A Tale of Adventure and Excitement
"The Scarlet Pimpernel" by Baroness Orczy is an amazing book. It involves the political intrigue of the time and the swashbuckling factor that makes the book exciting! Although the Scarlet Pimpernel himself actually isn't in the majority of the book, he always is lurking in the shadows, constantly thought about. Chauvelin is a masterful and cunning adversary, a fitting arch enemy for the clever Sir Percy. Their wits are constantly at odds, taking the anticipation to new levels as you try to guess what they will think up next. Towards the end of the tale a dramatic climax starts during which you lose all hope several times, gaining it back when you laugh at the cleverness of Sir Percy and how he stays one step ahead. This book is definitely a wonderful and must-read novel for all adventure and excitement lovers! Definitely five stars!
